Weekly Wax Thoughts- Make Life Vintage

Hey everyone,
So as some of you who follow me on Instagram (@Piperbeauty) now know I've actually started a YouTube channel which may or may not take over from this blog (I haven't decided yet). At the moment I am doing mostly wax videos however there will be Project Pans and empties too. However I still believe my weekly wax reviews should be written and could be saved if wanted. This weeks melts were all based on a favourite vendor of mine called Make Life Vintage. You can currently buy Nic's wax on etsy and she also has an Instagram (@Makelifevintage) and Facebook (/MakeLifeVintage) page. Let's get onto the reviews!
Fresh Orange
On cold sniff these melts (most packs come with 5, however I think it goes by weight) were predominantly orange, however more zingy than I thought. Within 10 minutes melting time they were throwing great in my smaller room and we're very calming. I initially thought that this fresh scent would be perfect for cleaning days and would mix well with a clean linen smell. These two melts lasted a good 4 hours on strong throw, then the scent starts to dull.
Fragrance: 4.         Throw: 3
Blueberry and Vanilla
As soon as you open the lid to these pot melts, you get hit with the scent straight away. However on cold sniff I could only smell blueberry (although that is still gorgeous). I melted 1/2 a pot for the photo above and I would say that is all you need for a good throw in a small to medium room. Again with this melt, it started to melt and throw in 10 mins. Even when warmed up I couldn't smell the vanilla, however it would smell gorgeous with coconut for the summer months.
Fragrance: 3.            Throw: 5
Fairy Dust
I really was unsure of what this melt would smell like as I didn't have the description and with a name like fairy dust it could be anyone's guess. However on cold sniff it comes out really floral and perfume like with a sweet scent added in. As soon as this half pot went into my melter, that was it. A glitter explosion happened and it was beautiful! After the 10 mins initial melting time, I started to taste (yes taste) musk in the air and it was making me feel rather ill. The smell however turned into a beautiful peony or Rose like scent which I loved! This melt could easily last longer than 5 hours (which is my standard melting time), but the musk taste was putting me off.
Fragrance: 4.      Throw: 4
Raspberry Lemonade
I almost totally forgot to take a picture of these melts, I really wanted to get past the initial 10mins melting time to smell the raspberries. On cold sniff I could really smell the lemonade (or sherbet in my case) however when warmed there was no initial smell or throw. I was a little disappointed in this one as it is my favourite smelt cold. After about 20 mins to half and hour, I could smell a small throw which was sweet but not exactly raspberries. I was not impressed with this one.
Fragrance: 2.       Throw: 2
Black Cherry
Have you ever smelt a melt which takes you straight back to your childhood? This was it for me! My first thought when smelling the cold sniff was that of bake well tarts. My mum used to give me those as a child for school lunches and I just remembered them straight away. A tart black cherry. Again with this melt it was a quick 10 mins melting time before the throw started which smelt faintly of cherry. This melt mixed well with the musk that was left behind from the previous melt.
Fragrance: 4          Throw: 3

I hope your all enjoying these mini reviews of vendors/companies. I do actually have a lot more from Make Life Vintage so I could also do another week for Nic at some point. Next week is Flamingo Candles! Watch out for that.

Weekly Wax Thoughts- Mixed Uk Vendors

Hey everyone,
So last week on my Instagram (@Piperbeauty) I mentioned that I was going to start my weekly wax thoughts/reviews on certain vendors or categories and to start me off I chose a few different UK vendors. Under each picture of their product (with price I purchased at and where to purchase from) I will tell you my thoughts. Let's get onto this week!
Melt My Heart Wax- Chanel Chance (£0.30 each, @meltmyheartwax Instagram)
I must admit, I did purchase from this vendor on a whim noticing she had a sale and I hadn't heard anything about her wax. I took a chance with this perfume type melt as I haven't smelt the perfume before and on cold sniff that is all I could smell. After about 5 mins the melts had created a pool however I did have to be over the melter to smell a cologne scent (which I could also taste). I melt everything in a small room with a draught excluder on the door and I could not smell it. There was no throw unfortunatly. To get rid of the cologne scent around the melter, I used a yankee tealight in clean cotton which helped.
Fragrance: 1/5.                Throw: 3/5
Melt My Heart wax- Cookie Dough (£0.30 each, @meltmyheartwax, Instagram)
No photo here I'm afraid (I forgot!), but as with the last review, I don't have much to say with this melt either. When taking cookie dough out of the bags (which were super cute!) I couldn't smell anything from cold sniff. Again all 3 melts melted in about 5 mins but I did have to be above the melter to smel anything faint. For a cookie dough scent, I expected to get a sweet bakery note and to my surprise I actually got white chocolate! Which I actually enjoyed when I could smell it. I left this melting for 5 hours and towards the end I did get a good throw for a small room. With this vendor I would say get fresh scents and use in a small office or bathroom.
Fragrance: 2/5.              Throw: 3/5
DeeLights.co.uk- Spring Meadow (recieved from WaxBox.co.uk)
I really was going to leave this melt out this week, but as it's a vendor I've never used before I thought why not. On cold sniff I got a very strong floral which was very off putting however when half melted that strong floral threw! Although I couldn't find any notes, I smelt Daisy, Rose and grass notes. A very aptly named melt that almost knocked me out of my room!
Fragrance: 2/5.            Throw: 5/5
BusyBees- Piña Colada (£1.39, busybeecandles.co.uk)
Many of you will not know this but Piña Colada is my favourite alcoholic drink (I don't drink much) and boy does this smell exactly like the drink on cold sniff! These soy based melts do melt quickly and throw really well. Predominantly I smelt the coconut with no hints of lime or rum. If you want a good mix, try using a vanilla tealight. A favourite mix of mine.
Fragrance: 5/5.       Throw: 4/5
Soy Crumbles- Pink Bubblegum (£6, www.soycrumbles.co.uk)
I will state now that I did receive this product for review however that does not make my review any different. Before I even openned the bag for this crumble I could smell the cold sniff, exactly like bubblegum but not too sickly sweet. The mixed colours before melting are just like a rainbow however once melted and gone cold the colours are even more prominent (see photo above). I used 3 tsps in my air wick melter which seemed perfect for a small room throw. However the initial throw is quite subtle once melted it is perfect! I didn't find this too cloying or sweet for my clean/fresh scent preference.
Fragrance: 4/5.           Throw: 4/5
Mothers Goodies- Monkey farts (£2.90 for 6, mothersgoodies.co.uk)
I just want to say, I'm a bit impartial to Mothers Goodies. I've loved their melts ever since I found them on ebay. The colour of this melt is no exception to this. For a name like monkey farts, this really looks like something a monkey would eat. There was no cold sniff on this particular melt, however when melted I could smell coconut which wasn't even in the scent notes! The banana is prominent which you would expect with this name! I also noticed when melted this melt contains glitter which looks gorgeous in your melter and isn't a pain to clear up afterwards. For a mini melt, it lasts a good 2.5 hours with a good throw and had a calming scent.
Fragrance: 3/5.           Throw: 2/5
Glade + Regents House mix- Pomegranate and Guardian Angel (glade in wax swap, Regents house from Waxbox.co.uk)
I know what your thinking, this isn't going to be a straight review of these melts. And no it's not simply because I didn't like the cold sniff of the Guardian angel, I decided it needed something sweeter. On cold sniff the guardian angel had a cologne yet fresh smell and the pomegranate has an Amber scent due to it being mixed in the bag. This mix melted had an excellent throw however very manly and headache enducing. I did notice that when I walked into my room I smelt a bakery note which really threw me off! I ended up taking this out within the hour and changing it up.
Fragrance: 1/5.             Throw: 5/5

I hope you have enjoyed these reviews and will enjoy the future reviews. Please do remember these are only my personal opinion and everyone's opinion will be different.

Finish 5 by 31st July

Hey everyone,
So I know you probably read that title and thought that's a weird date and it is. I have to reason for picking that date, I just want to finish a few items up. I have actually picked 7 items here but will finish when 5 are finished. I also picked these 7 items using the Roulette method and Megan's (megsmakeup8) 100 ideas. Here is what I picked with them.
An item you don't reach for- Elizabeth Grant Serum
I actually used this a lot when I first recieved this in a monthly blogger box but it seemed to have slipped my mind and I stopped using it. If you can see the small black line under the Torricellumn, that is where I'm starting this project by.
Because of YouTube- Urban Decay Perversion Mascara
I was given this from a beauty friend on Instagram for Christmas and still haven't tried it out. I know it's got a cult following on YouTube, so why not pop this is now? Plus these take about 3 months to use up!
A lip product- Natural Collection Lipgloss
I've tired this product a few times now and every time I've thought the consistency is very thick. Now is the time just to use it up as it's such a light colour that I can pair it over anything. Lipglosses don't take me to long as I like to layer a lot and reapply so we should see this go down a bit.
A pencil Product- So Susan Highlighting pencil
I bet you've all seen this way to much now but it really is a product I like to put down before my brow bone highlight. I'm surprised how much I still have left however I would like this gone again soon.
Cream product- Benefit Watts Up? Highlighter
Again another product that I use everyday but would like it to just be gone so I can move on to something else. I apply this highlighter before my foundation and will also use it as a eyeshadow base to make it go faster.
Something you use everyday- L'oreal Infallable Setting Spray
I really don't like the texture and spray of this setting mist however it does set my makeup (be it foundation or just powder) and it will be gone soon (positive thinking!!).
An eyeshadow- W.O.S in Urban Decay Naked Basics
I use this eyeshadow as a setting powder for my cream shadow bases and it seems to work really well. This eyeshadow is the last I want to use in this palette before I send it to the empties bin.

I'm pretty sure a lot of these products would be used within time anyway, however putting them in a mini project like this, I feel responsible for them and can see my progress better. I plan to update you all every month on the 4th (or around) and then the final on the 31st July.

24By4July- 8 week update

Hey everyone,
Hasn't 2 weeks gone round fast! So much has happened, yet I've barely worn makeup (been on holiday for at least a week of this) so this update will look very much the same I'm afraid. I have swapped two colour eyeshadows as you'll see when I get to the end.
So far I have finished:
Bare Minerals Marvelous Moxie Gloss
Juicy Couture mini perfume
Nivea Facial Wash
Tanya Burr eyeshadow (hit pan)
Nars Rekugien Pencil
Garnier Micellar Water
Dior 006 Lipstick
Batiste Dry Shampoo
Revlon Nearly Naked Powder
Stila Lionfish Eyeliner
The Balm Balm Desert Bronzer sample
Bodyshop Fijian Waters Body butter
Sleek eyeshadow in purple (hit pan, to replace a Stila eyeshadow)

Barry M Meadow Polish
I'm still not painting my nails as much as I used to, but when I do I only use is polish and a glitter to top. I keep making consistent progress, I may have this finished.
Nars Orgasm Blush Sample
As with other updates, you won't see much progress here as I use this in conjunction with my other blush in this project on consecutive weeks. The top layer of this blush is wearing away though.
Deep Steep Body wash
I know what your thinking, by the looks of those marks, you barely washed these last two weeks. And yes I thought that too. But no, I actually took the time to test another body wash during these two weeks and have only just got back to using this wash again.
Maybelline colour tattoo in On & On Bronze
I'm still really shocked at how quickly I hit pan and am continuing to with this product. Fortunatly this colour works really well with any colours on top so is doing quite well with other mini projects.
Isa Dora Lipliner
Can I just say this now? I think I used this once. But I have found that if I use a balm underneith this liner, the colour is less strong and wearable for work. Progress is yet to come!
Revlon Pink Afterglow lipgloss
As you can see I've made a small bit of progress with the week I started this gloss. I moved on to this when my Nars pencil finished.
Mac Dainty Blush (hit pan)
Again I use this blush on opposite weeks to my Nars so not much to see here. However the top is now squaring off at all angles. I will still focus my brush on the magnetic part though and see what progress I can make.
Revlon Juicy Papaya lipstick
No progress here, however since taking these photos I have opted to wear this around the house as a balm so it maybe different come next update!
Loreal Infallable Mattifying Base
Slow and steady wins the race with this primer. I use this everyday (whether I'm wearing foundation or not) just to keep my oily skin at bay and it seems to be using it up. I do like this primer and will be sad to see it go.
Too Faced Liner Sample
Since starting this liner I have made a considerable 2cm worth of progress but as with my other liner products, they take so long to use up! Plus I have a whole draw full of them! Someone save me!
Technic Indian Red Lipstick
I think I wore this lipstick twice to work before I went on holiday so no progress shown on paper.
Stila Illuminator
I decided last update that once the pink powder was gone that I can call this product done. I'm so close to that as I use it as an inner corner highlight and swirl my brush in all of it for a normal highlight. I also highlight my collar bone which always helps.
Maybelline Dream Velvet Foundation
I managed to make consistent progress in the week I was at work with this foundation, however now the bottle opens up a little so progress will be slow from here on out.
Sleek eyeshadow in Bright Blue (replaced Stila eyeshadow)
I only replaced my Stila eyeshadows a couple of days ago and because these powders are so soft (and I'm an animal with powder) I have already made a big dent in this shadow. I only plan to hit pan (which I have already managed with the purple shade) and plan to use this in my waterline over the too faced liner which dulls it down a little. This will look lovely for summer.
Marc Jacobs Daisy Perfume
Since the last update I have finished the other perfume and have also bought an atomiser so I can take Daisy to work with me as well. This has resulted in a little progress which will continue.
Nip + Fab Dark Circle Fix
This product actually feels a lot lighter and without tempting fate, I would like to think this would be finished within a month. I used this twice a day too.
Maybelline Master Precise Liner
I think I used this once and the tip was incredibly hard to use (dried up). I will give it a few more goes and if it is still the same, I will call this done.

As you can see I still have a long way to go with these products left, however I would like to think progress will be made. I am also going to be starting a smaller project tomorrow, so watch out for that post.
